Hi ,

I know the difference between Analyze now and Clear analysis data. But my question is, if i update my profile, which one should i do? Say i have added a new hit filter and need to analyse it . since its a new page that was added recently, i dont need to clear my old data. So if i do Analysis Now, will it take the new hit filter that was added?

Regards,

UM

Any changes like that will be a "from now on" sort of deal. If you apply a new hit filter, it will only affect data that is analyzed from that point forward. Historical data will not be affected.

And, just to extend the topic a little, if you needed to re-analyze because you want the filter or custom report to get some historical data, I've found it useful to make the changes to the profile and then leave it alone to run "from this point forward." Then, I clone that profile with a retroactive date and get my historical data from the clone.

For a while I have side-by-side profiles, but eventually I get the clone to re-analyze far enough back to feel okay about deleting the original.

The advantage to doing this is that you never have to be without reportsduring the period when you are erasing and rebuilding a profile's contents.
